[V8] [torsen] v8 rears...

... with two '91 5-speeds I know the center and rear Torsen's habits quite well ... I even understand the reported "spider bite" (which is primarily due to the center Torsen).  While I don't have a real big problem with the rear Torsen I think it was a compromise ... which means it does a little of two things ... but neither of them particularly well IMO.  

I think the main reason Audi went with the rear Torsen was to eliminate the locking diff and yet provide some amount of traction in the snow.  In that regard ... with a Torsen, if you have one rear wheel with -0- traction you'll have no traction on the other rear wheel either.  At least with a locking rear you know that you can lock the rear diff and get one wheel to hook up.
