... the throttle body itself is at the front of the engine ... it is actually pretty easy to access IMO. The thing is that the throttle cable connects to a pulley at the back of the engine, and there's a linkage that runs underneath the intake manifold to connect the two. [FYI, there's also a coolant line that runs across the top of the engine to the external pipes in back under the intake manifold too.]
When you say "pressing the throttle doesn't do anything" does that mean the pedal doesn't move? ... or does it mean that the pedal moves but the engine RPMs don't change as they would normally be expected to? If it is the former then you have something jammed somewhere, and you could probably start by removing the airbox and seeing if you can't find the source there. If the pedal moves but has no effect it may be that the cable broke or came disconnected.
