Taking breaks from the T-belt job resulted in helping remove and install
a transmission. But not just any transmission. This was in a Cadillac
Northstar. Possibly the biggest and heaviest transmission I've seen in
a car. The factory manuals have a large warning: "place jack under rear
end as removal of transmission may cause vehicle to lose balance and
fall [backwards] off lift."

That cause a few moments pause and reflection. All-in-all, it wasn't
too bad. There's a large cradle under the engine and transmission that
holds mounts and control arms. Removal of that let one get to the
transmission. There are some brake and power steering lines in the way,
but it could have been a lot worse, I suppose. There's always one
impossible bolt. I have the skinniest arms/hands so I was nominated.
Designers always place that one "impossible bolt" as well as the "stupid
bracket" that has sharp screws/bolts sticking out of it to jab, scrape,
and poke the arm trying to remove "impossible bolt." "Stupid bracket"
cannot be removed except by some other incredible hard project.

Book time is 10-12 hours. We probably put about 8 hours of actual work
into it. Not too shabby.
