True all around. I placed a similar price on my 55K mile 90 V8. Not
really expecting to get it but to enter discussions with "real' buyers.
Kent's pay me know or pay me later is true. I got a low miler that needed
tons of bottom end 'resto work from sitting, virtually ALL brake lines, ALL
fuel lines and NOS fuel pump, NOS rear muffler, ALL wheel bearings, ALL
struts, Both Tie rod ends Front and rear control arms as the bushings were
toast and a good alignment was impossible, then throw in a Factory Tbelt
and associated Euro land goodies and $10k is now in my rearview mirror. A
lister posted the sellers purchase cost on the 94, not sure how that was
avail, but I'll tell you right up front mine cost me a third of $10K (and I
over paid!) but with the work done I'm now there, BUT I also have, or
someone else will have a car with all the work done and in interior and
exterior that befits a 55k mile car, not one that says 17 year old car. I
try to buy cars with faults that are fixable, for me this is mechanical
mostly as you can't really bring back a trashed worn out interior and
paint/body work can be more expensive than wrenching even at stealership
prices. I drive alot, and the interior comforts are very important part of
the equation (still tough to find a US car with the
interior/instruments.ergonomics of a V8 or even a 70 vette for that matter)
but only if the car is dependable to drive when I need it to go 400 miles
in a blizzard, it better be able, and they all are hence my 'premium'
asking prices when I have to thin the herd. I'd like to think I'm the type
of owner you'd like to get a car from.

The car appears to be fine. The old adage of "Buy the nicest one you can
afford" really means that the additional cost of buying a nice one is much
cheaper than the cost of bringing a more common example up to snuff; and
there's no way to purchase either "original" or truly low miles on an
entire
package.

However, having said that, I think Roger's estimate of $6800 is lots closer
to real value than the $11k that the buyer is asking.
