[V8] Theoretical question

I've given about the same advice separately. I'd feel sort of challenged by
the mileage, wanting to see just how far she could go. Then there's the
rare color, I think Alpine White actually, as Arctic White didn't come along
'till the A4 days, nevertheless, there are very few non-pearl white ones.

What's the interior color, black? Should be easy to replace the headrests,
and not that much less easy to replace the cargo cover. I have to confess
I've been aware of this car for a few years, not personally, but enough to
feel a bit higher level of confidence in it... I've seen the seller on the
list for a while and read about it before when it was for sale. Sadly, the
mileage probably runs most off, but I think there's real value in a
lister-owned, one-owner car, almost regardless of mileage. Everything has a
finite lifespan, but I'm not sure that is entirely predictable. I believe
this car has lived the majority of its life, if not its whole life, in a
less urban area of CA. It's current location lends well to day/weekend/week
trips to the Bay area and Santa Barbara or LA, or even the Sierras for
mountain fun. These are not 305k miles on urban interstates and city
streets, methinks.

Hey, I don't know the car or the seller personally, but these are the kinds
of conclusions/predictions/assumptions I draw when I'm in the buying mind.
(Stop it! Your silver car isn't even paid off yet and now you've got the
black V8! ...comments from one looking over my shoulder at the moment).

My silver Avant, bought a year ago Feb, has just recently resumed it's
primary duty, camping transport, which it again performed flawlessly and
comfortably, cruising 90-95, fully loaded, for about an hour and a half, and
turning 233k miles young on the way. Our "hosts", the couple who we camp
with, sharing their pop-up camper and company, who's vehicle is a Jeep
Wrangler, always tell us to just go on and get home on the return trip, as
they know they will be lucky to reach the speed limit for even short
portions of the trip.

I'm trying to figure out how to expand the utility of the Avant to be able
to transport the firewood supply. It's $4 a bundle at the campsite and we
can do far better. This ultimately won't be an economical pursuit in terms
of saving me money, but merely focused on making more of our camping trips
without spending anywhere from 20-60 dollars a time on "more firewood!".
I've considered a hitch (for many reasons) and a small utility trailer for
the wood alone, or some sort of roof-top carrying, lashing bundles of
firewood to plywood lashed to the roof rails. I prefer the hitch/trailer
idea as it would provide useful otherwise. I also realize this will at
least partially curtail my cruising speeds. But alas, summer is for
camping, and the Avant, my Avant, is not intended for track use.

And, scene. I've produced another Roger-mail. ;-) (Always meant in jest,
Roger.)

Off to dive into the driver's side door of the 90 V8 to fix the lock
linkage...
