I know exactly what you mean...

A few weeks ago there was a "glitch" in our payroll system and no official
notice was issued.  I ended up corresponding with the Vice President of HR
via his Blackberry on which he repeatedly claimed there was nothing they
could do, it wasn't their fault, the payroll just got input Friday morning
instead of Thursday evening.  I was shocked at how inappropriate the whole
thing was.

Sad that even something as important as nationwide payroll for thousands of
people was not treated with a little more attention.
