I agree with a do it right the first time. In fact, I won't do "just" a
belt on a v8 unless there is proof of a water pump replacement at some time in
the interim belt service life, even then, why skip it when you are staring at
it. When the pump freezes up, it may take longer to burn thru the new belt,
but it will, btst.

The parts for this job can be shopped until you found your (cough) 'deal'.
The labor on this job is the killer, so for DIYer, there can be no reason to
not put in all the proper parts to do it right the first time.

Let's not forget that these cars were $50k flagship audis in their day.
Appreciate the fact that audis depreciation makes for some great prices on these
machines in the used car world. Justify spending the couple hundred because
you stole the car to begin with. Otherwise, you were probably better off
just buying the camry you took a pass on.

& I'm going to have respectfully disagree here....in
no way shape or form is it "easier"..or more
"economical" to do this in stages.
I hate to through another lister under the bus....but
against my better judgement I did Allen's T-belt only
last weekend. Ask him now what else he has replaced
after I spent half the day doing it. Go ahead..ask
him.

DO THIS RITE THE 1ST TIME!
