I had forgotten about the records being proprietary. I never heard the
system work as we never had a car like that in my family's house.
The closest to anything like that was when I convinced my father that he
should buy the natty cream on blue Chrysler 300K coupe that someone had
turned in to the Chrysler/Plymouth dealer in town.
It was a car so totally unlike my father that I to this day don't really
know why he actually bought it. Dad was a public school administrator, and
VERY conservative. The Chrysler was a rocket ship compared with the '61
Dodge that he had previously. My father once admitted to me that he got
challenged at a stop light by some kid, and....let him go. He said that he
"knew" that the big Chrysler would have taken him.
In the end, it was just too much car for my Dad, the public school
administrator.
And he NEVER let me drive the car alone.
