... if you're going with a 4.2 you *have* to use the 6-gang ... that's the
way the factory did it! :-)

It'll probably come down to personal preference ... either is perfectly
acceptable. Assuming that you're going to be converting an automatic, the
surgery required is likely to be similar either way.

I've get a 6-speed sitting in the garage right now too ... slated to go into
the V8Q Avant project. It still isn't clear whether or not the motivation
will be provided by that PT sitting in the garage with turbos or a 4.2
(which I don't have).

I present you with a question. Which should I build a 5-speed V8q or a
6-speed? the 5-speed use all 200vtq parts, stock trans, stock mounts,
stock flywheel. The 6-speed which isn't a mystery to me involves urS
stuff, 6-speed FW (got one already, but for another 6-speed v8 car,
coupe), and some custom brackets? I have been offered a 6-speed from
Germany with some parts I ordered, I just can't decide I know the
6-speed is a good unit, already have one, and I know it's a lot more
work, but wouldn't it be kooler? Then again 5-speed parts aren't all
that common over here.
