[V8] Bad MPG, O2 Sensor?

I had this same issue - had sheets and sheets of posts - everyone was very
helpful to try and find what was wrong with the car.  I think the problem
came down to this - the car had some issues which caused an O2 code + it
had bad MPG (14.5 calculated in town).  I fixed all the issues and got rid
of the O2 code, but the MPG still sucks.  My mind was stuck on my old v8
which got 18.5 consistently - but what I failed to realize was that
although my driving style had not changed, my route had.  I think this
cars mileage can vary considerably with conditions.  Anyway, do a
calculation and find your actual MPG, then check the codes even if you
don't have a CEL lit - some codes that come up won't set the light,
including one of the codes for the O2!  Final note, if you don't know when
the O2 was replaced, and even if you don't have a code I would replace it
as a maintenance item, their performance drops off as they get older.
