[V8] Confession or a miracle?

I have a confession to make. I was cruising eBay and came across a 1999 A6
Avant for sale with very low mileage. The car was burgundy and light
interior, which is not my favorite color, but did appear to be very, very
nice.

When we bought my wife's 100CS Avant Quattro in 2001, the car had 39,000
original miles and had been a one owner with verifiable service history. The
car came from Kansas City, and I flew out and bought it and drove it home
basically sight unseen aside from a dozen photos.

We have put almost 90,000 miles on that car and it has been a wonderful
vehicle, especially for my wife as her daily driver.

Anyway, looking at the A6 she remarked that we have had such a good
experience with the 100CS that perhaps we should look for an A6 Avant that
is similar to what the 100CS was when we first bought it.

With my Dad in the hospital after two heart attacks, I cannot be far from
home, otherwise I might have jumped into the car and driven to Boston to see
it before the auction ended.

I was tempted. Sorely tempted.

With Dad's sudden illness, we cancelled a short vacation trip to North
Carolina which would have included a little side stop in New Jersey where
there sat a pretty nice, low mile V8. Gone but not forgotten.

Now, I was tempted by an A6 Avant!

Audifans: have I sinned? Is the end? Or am I just getting senile?

Roger
