[V8] Strange sound when under load; 92 V8 4.2

When driving home this evening, my V8 started making a strange sound.
Under load, at half throttle or more, 2500 rpm or more, a sound comes from (it seems at least so) from the engine bay. It sounds like a big spring, I really can't describe the sound any better than that. The sound is not speed dependant.

Any ideas? :)
