Scott,

Check SJM's site for more information:
http://sjmautotechnik.com/trouble_shooting/ecufv8.html

I have been able to connect to my ECU using Vag-Com many times. (mine is
hex+CAN). Use the two left-most connectors in the bank. I'm assuming that
by "pigtail" you mean the 2x2--->OBDII adapter. Attach the black plug to
the first socket on the left, and the white plug to the second socket from
the left. The "clips" on the plugs should both be on the "bottom" side when
connected. Is the LED on your vag-com interface lighting up green, and not
yellow or red? In order to work correctly, it must be. If not, refer to
SJM's site and check the polarity of the +/- connection. Also, in the past
i have accidentally forced the plugs on in the wrong orientation, which
upset something in the vag-com interface, and I needed to wait about 20
minutes for something to reset in the interface before it would work
properly, even when correctly connected.

Hope that helps.

\Ryan
