[V8] snow tires

I don't use 'em. Haven't used winter tires or snow tires since I sold my
1987 Mercedes 190D-T, which was helpless in winter weather anywhere in Maine
without its winter tires and (expensive from the dealer!) Mercedes steel
wheels.

On my succession of Avants, and V8s, I have only used a high quality "all
season" tire. The best of the bunch by a long way, were Firestone Touring
somethingorothers that I bought for my first V8, then another set for my '89
Avant. Discontinued, I bought a set of Bridgestone somethingorothers for my
4.2 V8 which were very, very good, and at the time, were not terrifically
out of sight price wise.

We get a lot of slushy wet 2-4" accumulations here, as well as a LOT of
black ice. Sometimes we get heavy snows also. In the slushy stuff I have
found that if the tires are approaching 1/2 tread depth it is best to
replace them, and that is what I have done for more than fifteen years.
Once the tires get to 1/2 original depth, I replace the tires.
