More than likely you got the no-name made in China radiators that some
(reputable sometimes) sellers occasionally put on the market.  Rock Auto
was selling these and the useless brass/copper heater cores for a while. 

The Modine units were excellent in build (no longer available for the
Turbo type 44 the last time I checked), the GoDans were OK except for an
occasional fit modification, and the Nissans (sp) I did not have any
experience with, but people on the main list had mixed write ups on
those.
