[V8] 92 V8 4.2: leaking transmission

Which seal are you talking about? From memory I replaced the following:
They are all normal rubber seals -

   - Front pump seal - behind torque converter - easy to get to when the
tranny is out.

   - Both front axle seals - not too bad but you do have to drain the
front differential - all you need is an allen head I belive for the
drivers side and you may have to use a pair of circlip pliers for the
shaft that runs through the bellhousing to the passengers side.

   - Front driveshaft seal, differential side - this one is a pain because
you have to remove the bellhousing if I remember correctly. Also, on
reassembly you have to line up all of the clutches in the transmission -
it can be done but I had to hold the transmission in the air and lay on my
back to align all of that stuff. You could probably get away without
doing this one, but you are already there, so do it.

   - Front driveshaft seal, transfer case side - this one is a pain too -
you have to remove the back half of the transmission to get to this one -
make sure and do this one - it seems to be a common leak on these - I
think it is because it is so close to the exhaust pipe.

   - Rear driveshaft flange seal - just remove the allen head in the
flange and pull out - pretty strait forward like the front driveshafts.

That is all of the seals - I got all mine from the dealer - as some are
dealer only - expecially the front driveshaft differential side - it is
strange. The dealer can supply you with all of the gaskets you will need
when you separate the different parts of the transmission. The gaskets
are cheap and paper - make sure not to use sealant on them, just clean the
mating surfaces well.

           Good luck,
                  Jason
