How did you confirm the seating of the sensors? If you didn't clean out the hole they go into after removing them, one or more may have a little corrosion built up around the "seat" now that keeps it from being at the exact spot it should be to read the teeth.
The center diffy does lock up based on ABS signals, as I understand it. But it shouldn't cause any damage in casual driving. Let it go long enough and you might have excessive tire wear. I haven't heard of any damage to either the drivetrain or the braking system from driving with the ABS light on. It just means you don't have ABS available to help you steer in a brake lockup.

Last weekend I did a front suspension refresh on my 90' V8Q. Replaced
springs, lower control arms sway bar bushings. Upon reassembly and test
drive the ABS light kicks on after about 2min of driving, In slow tight
corners the rear end is locking up like an old 4x4, and under hard
acceleration there's a popping noise (technical term) from the front pass
wheel. That will go "away" when the load is removed or I take my foot out of
the gas, whichever comes first. Also until the ABS light kicks on the brake
pedal is high and tight, once the light kicks on, the pedal goes soft (but
still stops the car just fine).
The light resets with a re-start and will stay off until driven again for
about .25 miles. None of these issues existed before the refresh.. I
checked the CV's and they still are "whole" and the bolt holding them is
tight. The ABS Sensors were removed from the struts to do the springs (by
hand) and reinserted same way. I have verified that they are seated. The ABS
Rings were free from rust when the CV was reinserted into the hub.
I read somewhere the center diff uses the input from the ABS sensors to
magnetically lock, is this true? I read in the manual to test a ABS sensor
they should measure @ 1K Ohm, any BTDT's? Until there's a bit of free time
to play again, it will have to stay that way, but anyone know if by doing
so, I'm causing damage?
Thanks for the input!
Scott
