[V8] overheating

Ok, so my coolant reservoir starts leaking to the point that I had to refill it twice in a period of 24hrs. It turns out that my hose at the bottom was coming lose. I repalced it and no more leaks. Now, my car develops temperature, the needle goes all the way up just shy of the last line (120). It's doing this even in weather that's not that hot. What gives, any thoughts?  Are there any air pockets that need to be bled and therefore not allowing proper cooling?
