[V8] strange no start issue

Some time ago, my wife's '94 Audi 100CS had a very similar problem.

Turned out to be the crank sensor, if I remember correctly.  As I remember,
there are two of them, one of which is a common failure on that car and the
other is not.  Her problem was the one that does fail, and I can look it up
if need be.  I am just lazy this morning.
