[V8] Heater/defroster flap motor.

You are talking about the temperature regulator motor which is indeed
electric and mounted under the hood. The original problem stated by
Rich though was the heat/defrost flap motor which on my '91 is a
vacuum motor controlled by a bunch of solenoid valves in a control
box near the glove box. I am pretty sure this is the same control
unit used on lesser models, maybe all the way back to the 5000. It
is a Delco part and may also be available from a GM dealer if any
still exist....

My plan of attack on this would be:
1. verify vacuum supply from supply tank is good. There is a check
valve in there somewhere too.

2. use the diagnostic mode to operate the flap motor. If it fails to
move, check for vacuum at the motor. If it is present then the motor
is stuck or broke. If not, the solenoid valve is either bad or it i
not being "told" to turn on/off. That leads to either a wiring
problem or broken valve control unit or broken control head (the part
with the LED readout and buttons)

My money is on a broken vacuum line under the hood - and actually
none of the vacuum motors work.
