Subject: [V8] Fueling Dilemna
I Hope everyone had a nice holiday. My V8 decided to throw a few
curves. Patient is a 93 V8 w/ 192k. Before you start saying, "check
the codes" - I plan on trying again, but I haven't had success trying
it with this car (unlike the '90 and '91s). Anyhow, the pass side
exhaust connection sleeve before the rear axle (whose bands were
rusted away, got pushed off the front pipe by the deep snow on the
23rd. Man what droning at 1600 to 1800 rpm! Anyhow, did the quick
fix with hose clamps for now. On the Christmas Eve Day, the
following symptom: Starts and drives fine. Park it when warmed up
and restart. Now the bugger surges up and down near satlling whether
driving or not for about 30 seconds. Cab smell overly rich fuel
mixture. Then evens out. My guess is OXS, bad temp sensor at back
of head, or lastly bad MAF. Ideas?
TIA
Ingo
