[V8] UFO Calipers

Thanks for sending me this link.  I found something of unusual value from
the link that was unexpected and that was a link to StopTech and their
outstanding "white papers" on various subjects, including brake disc
warping.  This paper was the first truly professional explanation of the
phenomena that we commonly refer to as UFO pulsing or disc warping.  

 

I think there will be less difficulty than anticipated in finding calipers
for my car, but I can see from reading this "white paper" I may want to do
more research into pad selection.  I suspect that pad selection and the
normal use of the V8 Quattro/200 20V in the American driving environment may
have resulted in the warping and the resulting change in so many braking
systems to the Girling G60s.

The parts house I use here in Vegas (Meyers Auto parts) tells me that the
UFO calipers are available on an R&R basis for approx. $50 each plus
shipping.

They send them to CentricParts for rebuilding.  http://www.centricparts.com/


You should be able to find a parts house in your area that deals with them
as they appear to have a location in Boston.
