[V8] hot glass... NAC...

I've got a 1960's 100w tube guitar head in the garage to rebuild now... and a couple of Dynakit mono block amps and some other bits, got a homebrew stereo 35w amp for the home system...and a half dozen 1930-50's radios... Tube construction on a large scale has a lot of toxic waste and isn't practical in the US and most of Europe any longer.? You find a few small companies but the biggies are in China and Russia now... no OSHA... The Sovtek and Svetlana tubes are pretty decent and not too expensive, but look at the prices people will pay for NOS American and British tubes on eBay... scary.? The box of NOS tubes in my garage is worth more than my whole V8 stash and car...
I found that video fascinating as it showed the construction of the pieces in a way that you could follow and really appreciate the complexity of the finished piece even more.? Probably would be a similar experience seeing old footage of a hand-built Rolls engine in process...

What a huge amount of equipment and skill it takes to make a triode -
and I know they went up to at least pentodes - and probably more.
I know people who still run old tube guitar amps and audio
amplifiers. They swear by the sound but tubes are hard to come by. I
guess now the Russians make some good ones.
I still have an old Tektronix Oscilloscope made in the late 60s that
is a work of art inside. It even works.
