[V8] On the end of the V8 because of fuel....

That, and because we are (comparatively) spread out more, I'd venture a
bet that our typical daily commute is longer.  So in many cases around
the country, this means using more fuel and at the same time is less
conducive to alternative transpo (bikes / mopeds / carpooling).
