FWIW, the mechanic has just changed the timing belt and all that stuff on my
"new" 90 V8. The car has 62,000 miles original, and the timing belt was
original, hence 62,000 miles and 18...that's EIGHTEEN years old.

Upon original inspection, we found the timing belt to be a tad on the spongy
side, but showing no overt sign that it was ready to come apart. The
thinking was that it would probably go another five to ten thousand miles
without problem. I think it is pretty safe to say that the 3.6 engine will
go to 65 or even 75000 miles without a timing belt break.

But I wouldn't do it.

So, it seems to be that five years and 59,000 miles, needing or wanting
another 2 thousand out of it is pretty safe.

Roger
