Let's all run out and buy a diesel hybrid.  Lessee, here's the arithmetic:
As in the Prius, the differential for the hybrid will be around $11,000.
The diesel engine will probably add $2500, or so. That means that the only
way that any savings will occur will be after 200,000 miles, assuming the
driver gets 55 miles per gallon, and doesn't pay any attention to the cost
of replacing the battery pack.
