Hi Roger,

Just a thought here.

Even if currently clicking a bit ..

I'd consider the new boot and grease now
if the axle is original fitment. The metal is
well hardened .. Which is sometimes even
removed during the CV rebuilding process.

If John has the right equipment it should not
take much longer than the R&R you would
need to do on the axle anyway.

John tells me that he can buy the boot alone, but a gob of grease from
inside of the torn boot yielded some grit, so the proper job is to replace
the joint assembly entirely.  

I'll let every one know how much when we do the job.  For now, I am good to
go, but by the time we are into October, if I haven't started to hear the
ominous click-click-click, I will have the front end work done as indicated
by today's inspection.

By that time, I expect to have made a decision
