I don't think we disagree... yet... I'm still of the thinking that oil
leakage from the gasket is not normal. That said, at 200k, it's quite possible
that you need more clamping force, for whatever reason.... If that's the
case, the twisted head bolt is not the proper fix, that's not inherent to the
design of it. It's a one time use stretch bolt. The ARP head bolts can be
reused infinitely (according to them anyhow) and provide a much higher tensile
strength, what it appears you are looking for in your proposed workaround.
My own suspicion is if you have an oil leak with a stock head bolt, the ARP
won't solve the problem. If it does, you've accomplished the task. The good
news is that even if it is something else, you don't have to buy another set
of bolts.

First of all; the head gasket isn't blown. They're new. They were changed
because of oil leakage from the right cylinder head. Cylinder heads were
delivered to an engine shop and refurbished (milled to spec, new valve stem
seals +++). The engine was leak free for about 200-300 km. The leak is now
back, but it seems to be a bit smaller. I would not consider
a head gasket with a bit of oil leakage blown.
The head bolts were of course replaced (original manufacturer) along with
head gaskets (original manufacturer),
and about all other seals you can possibly think of.
My car may be a "high mileage" car (325 000 km / 202 000 miles), but I know
for a fact that the
engine block was exchanged for a new in Germany in the late 90's, so I would
suspect the block
to have done about 100 000 miles. I wouldn't say that is a high mileage
motor.
300 000 miles is a high mileage motor - but I guess we have a different
definition of that here in Norway, Europe :)
