Sounds like the dreaded "You only started me for a minute.. now you will
pay" syndrome. Kinda like a flooded engine (back in the days of
carburetors)... I have had the same thing.... For me the solution was to
hold the throttle wide open (NOT pumping it) and crank to let the air flow
freely and lean out the mixture. Once it caught a little, she sputtered and
ran crappy for a few miles, then she trusted me again...

PS It is a nice sounding starter though... better than
crank..crank..crank...

Well, hope it's not a timing belt. I have had the same happen, though.
My solution was to remove the spark plugs (which were wet) and
replace with fresh ones and voila, she starts. Done this at least
2x. But then the third time it ended up being crank/ref sxensor.
