The pre-facelift 2001-03 front end can be made to look a lot like the V8 by 
removing the chrome from the lower bumper cover area. Hoods look almost the 
same as the 90s versions.

That's exactly what I was thinking. While not as distinctive as the earlier 
Audi's, the newer cars arean't exactly ugly. Well, at least till the new 
grille came out.

I agree on the chrime on the bottom. Remove it and the car looks better.

Then again, styling isn't a consideration when I buy a car. I didn't pick 
the V8 based on it, Nor the 4000Q's, nor the Jetta. If style was a 
consideration when buying a car, Mine would say something along the lines of 
"308" and GTSI QV on the back of it ;-) Oh, it would be red with a tan 
interior.
