[V8] no start sometimes

My comment was more rhetorical than authoritative. I have never had this
"no start" or "sometimes yes or no" issue with a V8. I have had the problem
twice with my wife's 100CS Avant, and each time it has been either the crank
position sensor. Each time about 60,000 miles apart.
My immediate thought was that the fuel pump is somehow at fault, but I am
not sure that I can think up a good reason why the car would start and then
run on starting fluid which would inturn end up getting the fuel pump to
pressurize the fuel system. In the end it will probably be something to do
with the fuel pump, pressure regulator or some such.
But I remain convinced that your car is too young in miles to be terminally
convinced that it's gotta go in favor of a Japanese tin can.

If the sensor is bad does that stop the voltage to the pump? I have trouble
thinking that both sensors are bad. I hate to throw more money at it without
knowing it will help. Can these sensors be tested?
Thanks, George
