[V8] TT Question (off topic)

On the TT topic, my friend's recently had an event in which the check engine
light came on and the radio emitting ear-splitting static, even when turned
off.  This corrected itself during a days-long timeout and hasn't made an
encore performance.  Is this any sort of known malady?

Sorry to bother you all, but I know collectively you folks know just about
everything...  Does anyone know how to replace the turbo-to-cat pipe on a
2001 TT 225?  My wife's has broken at the flex joint.  The broken upper part
came out well from the top; the broken bottom part from underneath.  There
must be a way shy of removing the engine!  TIA.
