[V8] flash of death

How timely. I've apparently got a similar problem with my Powerbook G4.
Seems eventually the track pad temp sensor goes bad and immediately puts the computer to sleep. Looks like I'll be surgically removing said sensor to cure computer of it's bouts of narcolepsy.
How the hell would you overheat a trackpad, anyways?
