Found the following on VWVortex... Looks like my code is not a concern.

Nope. The brake light switch is just fine. The gearbox ecm looks for a brake
light signal when the key is turned on, i.e. for a shift lock on an
automatic. If it doesn't see that signal, it will set the code you got. It's
one of the over redundant systems that Audi uses.

Scott Matus was kind enough to stop by this afternoon with his vag-com setup
to reset my airbag light. The code was regarding the Igniter for the
driver's side airbag, resistance high. Reset. I think this might be the
2nd time for this error.
We also checked the automatic trans systems and found code 00526 Brake light
switch-F 03-00-No signal. I have felt a couple of weird shifts lately and
my cruise control has never worked. I'm wondering if this could be
connected to either of those issues.
We couldn't communicate with Motronic. Not sure why.
I'd really like to get my cruise control working.
