[V8] Serpentine Belt

I would defiantly check that alt/VR then.

I all so am waiting to hear back From Bruce about some stuff... but haven't heard back from him yet.
Going to NAPA you'll prolly get the Goodyear gator-back belt I think is what it's called? Supposedly it's got steel wires/fibers running the length of it making it stronger/last longer.
Never used one.... I've all ways used the Conti belt's.

& while I agree with how Ed describes how to R&R the VR W/O removing the alt...... I know that the two phillips screws that hold the VR in can be a bitch to remove! The screws screw into the back of the alt case/body... more times than not while removing the screws I've come pretty close to stripping out the head/s of the screws cause the screws are a different metal than the alt.. so with cold/hot, road grime, oil, ect the threads of the screws & the holes get crusty so to speak.
It would just be..... better? ...... to remove the alt, put it on a bench, & have enough leverage/torque/angle, ect.... to get a good grip on those screws!

All so as Ed noted you have to remove the belly pan....2 10mm nuts, 8 fender type bolts (10mm) will remove the pan. One phillips screw to remove the alt air snorkel, one 8mm (I've all so seen phillips screws) in the outter half of the alt cooling tube/half circle ( you'll see a wide hole in the Black plastic tube part... the bolt/screw is in there).
I'de all so remove the 10mm nut on the clamp that holds the wires to the provission on top of the Black alt air duct thinggy ( seen from under hood).
You CAN remove the alt W/O removing the inner part of the air duct half circle thinggy. Two 17mm bolts & one 13mm bolt hold the alt to the P-side t-belt cover.
So when the alt comes out there still will be part.. or half of the Black plastic air duct attached to the back of the alt still.

 Ron
