[V8] Mercedes on Craigs List

That's a short wheelbase 280SE, which will have the 2.8 litre fuel injection
motor and automatic transmission.  The only real question is whether it will
have the gear selector on the steering wheel column (quite rare), or on the
console on the floor. 

Nice looking car. This one will have the rather dated looking "bullet" point
turn signals on either side of the grille. It wasn't until late in 1970 that
they changed to the round almost fog light looking directionals.  

I do not believe that the V8 appeared in this car until late 1970 as a 1971,
and I am not sure if there were any imported that year.  That engine would
have been a 3.5 litre and was in the 280SE coupe and convertible.

The 4.2 litre V8 didn't appear until 1972.

All of this is from memory because I lusted after one of these cars around
that time of my life, although they were waaaaaaaaaay beyond reason for me
as a young Air Force lieutenant and before that, as a rookie classroom
teacher in the inner city.
