[V8] Black interiors?

I dunno. I have never gone to a shop to actually see what a new interior
would cost. There are a few shops in New England that can do first class
work, but what they would cost today is an unknown...even if most of them
are still in business.

But if the cost was at all close and I was trying to do a restoration on one
of these cars, I would rather have a completely new interior rather than buy
a used one not knowing exactly what it would look like until I opened the
mystery boxes from Europe.

Then there is the other question of whether of not you would even use the
same seats at all. I have a fantasy of buying a V8 and pulling the engine
to do a complete, "out of body experience" engine reseal, fixing all the
things that you might as well do since "we're in there anyway". While the
engine was out, taking the carcass to the body shop for a complete
refinishing, and then installing the "new" interior. Since we're
fantasizing, my new interior would use late series comfort seats and the
rear seats would be two comfort seats also, set into a customized mounting
platform. The result would be a true four passenger V8, with individual
front and rear seats. I have NO idea what it might cost to do this, nor
where it could be done...southern California someplace no doubt.

The end result would be the ultimate V8 tourer, in as near new condition as
possible.

I was just looking at V8's that are advertised for sale. There are some
pretty interesting cars floating around for really small dollars that could
be good candidates.

Total cost might be around $25 grand, I'll bet.

Oh, yeah. And while were "in there" we'll yank out the old analog phone.
It's worthless, and that space in the armrest will be where the humidor
could go because I must be smoking something strange to come up with this
idea.

Roger,

I suggest you find a place specializing in doing this locally and get
a quote. Leather prices may have come down a bit, but hide costs were
through the roof even a few months ago. I've got to think you'd be
looking at $1500 or more. And I'm pretty sure you could get a
complete interior from Europe including shipping for less than that.
Just a guess.
