Hello Gunter,
I live in Toronto and drive a 90 V8 vin 000332 daily. I've been on the list for many years and enjoy reading the banter. I have had it 10 years and still love to drive it. Knock on wood it has not had any major issues, however the body is starting to go and in need of parts. The engine is still strong as new with only 160K. If for whatever reason Ron, Roger or any other of the regulars can't pick up your red or black one I would be very interested.
Thanks,
Mark

Ron...I am not happy about this as these are the best cars I have ever owned, but a number of life events dictate the change.  The two Canadian spec 1990 V8's I have owned (automatics) have been vehicles I have trusted to get me across large distances on a regular basis...through ridiculously adverse weather conditions....safely.....I know with certainty that the red V8 once saved my life.  Being a member of a select group of V8 owners has been an endearing experience.  I will never forget Keith Tackett driving from Virginia to Ohio to work on my car (while I lived in Cleveland).  I will never forget Bruce Maguire who drove up from Virginia to Ithaca, NY to p-up the two V8's for TB's and other major servicing.  Ron....I will never forget the day that you drove to Ithaca just to bring me some sport seats which you helped install.....you were a really cool guy!

Because I have driven these cars regularly over great distrances, they are both getting up in miles (the red one has nearly 365,000km).  The red one has probably reached the point of retirement--I have gone beyond what the vast majority of folks would do to keep a car running, and there are now just too many things to replace to make reliable ownership viable.  I'm looking at having to replace a winshield, fusebox, many relays, one of theAC control units (the one controlling the valves)---this is the 2nd time I've had to do this--when you don't catch the leak early on, the water often drains into the electricals causing a myriad of problems---other problems that would need urgent tending to include failing front UFO calipers, failing suspension bushings, and rear passenger door rust perforation issue.  To its credit, the engine just keeps on running AND it starts without being plugged in at -30 deg Centrigrade beautifully--valve guides slightly worn
 but not bad.  The other V8, black one, has 310,000km.  Beautiful stock car (even has orginal windshield) and remarkably solid (with grey interior with few blemishes) save that the engine is going through a quart every 300 miles.  Never fails to start or get me to my destination.  For some reason it's always been easy on the gas, too.  This car spent most of its life on the West coast and saw little salt.  Underside has stood up well but it could use brake line replacement. I've had this car since '04.  I know that the trunk was repainted but I can't find evidence of structural damage anywhere.  One previous owner must have hit a curb/manhole because, despite several alignments, the FR caster can't be set above 0.5 deg (ref range 0.9-1.9)....indeed, car pulls ever so gently to the right....tire wear has never been a problem/uneven, however.

I had considered swapping engine into black V8 but I just don't have the time anymore---working too many hours these days.  Frankly, if anyone was interested in a quality 1990 V8 with plenty of life left to give, with engine rehab, the black car would likely last out for a good number of years.  It has been treated well.

I don't yet know what to do with the V8's but I the thought of just dropping them off at a wrecking yard causes me distress.  I know that these are special cars, and that they would be a match for only a select few people.

I am not interested in making any profit from them.  If someone would like to have these cars, they are welcome to pick them up for free (in March...2nd week onwards).  I mean that-----no cost.  I really think that the red V8 probably has finally reached retirement, but there are many parts of value on it.  The black V8 could, however, be massaged over (engine) and recruited to run for some time yet.  Both are in running condition, but the red V8's sticking throttle and sub-optimal brakes preclude 100% safe driving.  Because I have always run seperate winter and summer tires, I have two sets of each.  12 16" rims and four 15" OE Aero wheels (with nearly full 215/60 TOYO winter tread).  I have plenty of summer tires.......4 mounted on new 16" TSW rims with central screw on cap with AUDI emblem are worn right down....there are another 4 nearly new Yoko AVS100ES 225 mounted on 16" A8 rims (comes with 5mm spacers for UFO's)....AND two brand new
 never mounted Yoko's AVS100ES.  There are another 4 16" Ronal rims with 215/55 Dunlop M3 winters mounted....great tires that will last through another winter.

If I was able to keep the black V8, I would do the following (in addition to eventual engine rehab):
	* swap the rear brakes from the red V8....less then 6 months ago I mounted rebuilt calipers on new discs (new pads, too).
	* Change brake lines (hoses OK)
	* effect minor repair to muffler....center muffler replaced last year with brand new ($1100) dealer-installed unit...just needs clamp replacement/repositioning.
	* swap set of Autolite 103 plugs from red to black V8 (the plugs in the red car were replaced about 3000 miles ago)
	* Flush coolant
	* replace one rear window regulator (other side replaced within past 2 years)
	* comprehensive TB done by AudiConnection 11/06 at 252,000, incl alternator, viscous fan clutch bearing, two HP hydraulic hoses, bomb, etc.
	* 241,000--received set of KYB gas shocks, RF wheel bearing, and center driveshaft
	* 11/05 - new battery
These cars may not be of interest to someone who wanted to register them in the US.....they are Canadian-spec.  I was able to get Ohio vehicle registration, but it required some effort.

Unless anyone objects, I'd like to remain on the V8Q audifans list and continue to receive emails.
