[V8] Pacific NW Cyclamen w/ Travertine

Karl,

Why did you have to show me this?!? :-)

As many of you know, I have a really nice 1990 Cyclamen V8 that has been
mostly repainted. It is a beautiful car that came from San Jose, CA and has
zero rust. I really appreciate how much of a difference this makes working
on the 'new' 1993 that started out in NH, then ID, then the sound area of
WA; no 'rust' per say, but all the fasteners on the car have a little bit of
corrosion on them that the 1990 doesn't have. I guess I am spoiled as the
2nd owner of a California / Pacific NW car.

I really didn't want to part ways with the 1990, but I rear ended someone
last summer. Damage is minimal, but we all know how much parts cost for
these things. Insurance co threatened to total the car (write me a check
for $1750 and I keep the car), but I pushed back for them to do an
independent appraisal. The independent appraiser told them it was worth
$6,000 in the condition it is in, despite the 180k miles.

I had my local body/paint guy give me an estimate to do things right, and it
came in at $4,200. Insurance co gave me a check for $2,500 (keep in mind,
this is less my $500 deductable).

The car also needs a timing belt, a motor mount, a wheel bearing, and a
headliner. Add this to the $1,700 to do the body work, and we are talking
diminishing returns.

When the '93 with 82k appeared on Autotrader, I couldn't resist. As Ron,
Dave x2, Steve, Ingo, Karl, or Bob would have done, I had the option of
keeping them both (and the one Karl pointed out!), but my checkbook (and
marriage!) won't allow. ;-)

But for $1,500, I could buy the one that is 2hrs away, take the hood, front
fenders (no body damage on mine, just acid rain spots and one of the only
areas that has not been repainted), driver's doors (I was keyed when I first
bought the car and had to put the insurance money into the transmission),
the front corner light, and the license plat holder.

If I did this and kept my Cyclamen car, I would need to sell the '93 and the
Cyclamen parts car. I could also buy the one for sale to make my baby whole
again and sell it (for a much better price than what I could get fir it
today), and keep the '93, which needs a timing belt also.

As I vacillate over my options, I just realized I sound like my buddy in
Maine who used to have a Cyclamen beauty as well. But I digress...

Anyone interested in a Ragussa '93 with 82k, or a Cyclamen '90 with 182k on
the clock? How about parts from a parts car? :-)

damage?

Thoughts?

Dunno if this belongs to anyone on the list, but it's a 90 auto, and looks
like Cyclamen on travertine.
