[V8] flashing cat light

The end result of punching the guts out of the cat is likely to be
extreme exhaust turbulence - something that is far worse than having a
working cat if performance is your reason for doing this. You need to
remember that all motors - and this one in particular - rely on a
certain amount of back pressure to make things run cleanly and
powerfully. The 3.6L does not have a EGR or air pump for this
reason. If you mess up the exhaust flow too much the stock ECU won't
respond the way it should. Contrary to popular belief, EGR is usually
a performance enhancer. It does the same thing as a water injection
system does - it cools the combustion mixture which helps the motor
run cleaner and also helps prevent pre-ignition. Punching out the
cats would most likely result in retarded ignition timing because you
are likely to get pre-ignition. Something that is really really bad
for any motor - and especially bad for a motor that can not be rebuilt.
