[V8] A6 4.2L...

Interesting how this thread has morphed into several others all at once.

I went to the Audi dealer early this morning. I wanted their V8
"specialist" to cross check and verify something that my wrench had told me,
so I was out the door at six thirty for the 90 mile blitz up the Interstate.

Anyway, while Paul was poking around underneath my car, I walked around the
car lot. The dealership sells Audi, Volkswagen and Mazda. All of this
thought was prompted by Kent saying that what he really needed was a
Volkswagen Passat.

I started my walk by being drawn out the door by a new Audi A6 about twenty
feet away. Only when I got up close, that A6 was really a new A4. And just
on the other side of it was a new Jetta four door sedan, and right next to
that was a Mazda somethingorothers....and I couldn't tell any of them apart
until I was able to actually see the badges on the rear or the noses
themselves. THEY ALL LOOKED ALIKE.

I don't think I would be interested in a Passat. I think I would buy a
Mazda instead. Cheaper and probably much more reliable. And almost
identical.

While I was in the showroom, I sat behind the wheel of a new Volkswagen CC.
It was like sitting in a machine gun bunker. It looked like it was well
made, but I thought the inside felt flimsy.

I opened the driver's door of a new Audi A5. I wasn't tempted to get inside
because it looked small and cramped and figured that it would probably feel
like a more expensive machine gun bunker.

I liked the looks of the Mazda station wagon. I think it was a Mazda 6. I
don't want to drive one, as every time I have driven a Japanese car I have
felt it was....well, Japanese. For that matter, every time I drive almost
anything not made in Japan, I think it is very "Japanese". Except for the
Ford Fusion that I drove to North Carolina and back last spring, and felt
that that was good, but only a bit nicer than my 1990 Audi 100 FWD...that
had 130,000 miles on it. But I wouldn't have paid almost thirty grand for
one.

At the end of the day, I think the A6 4.2 might be neat, but I also think it
is kinda funky looking. Not my style, but then it has occurred to me that I
am just getting old, too. I also like the W123 Mercedes...
