[V8] Sticky Tappets and Marbles

I had this SAME exact phenomenon after having my t-belt done PROFESSIONALLY
and paying WAY TOO MUCH for it just after I bought the car (wow 10 years ago
now) and 72k miles ago...

I know that it's time again to do the belt... I keep procrastinating, but
basically I've lived thru the WHOLE life of a t-belt with this noise... I am
glad to see that there is some hope to now make it go away when I doo the
belt this spring..... as well as install that "new" radiator that has been
in the box in the garage for 3 years...

I as well experienced this noise after a T belt change.
It gets louder after it warms up and is most noticeable at idle.  I believe
the tensioner  mechanism is making the noise. I could see it vibrating after
studying it  with the timing belt  cover removed and car running. But why?
Makes me nervous. I plan on addressing the issue as soon as I'm sane.  Knock
on burl wood.

As regards the ticking/rattling
sounds especially from the pax side, my
experience was that it gets worse with engine warming up (I assume lower oil
pressure). An engine that quiets down when warm sounds more like sticky/bad
hydraulic lifters to me. IIRC, there were a whole bunch of 3.6's with
similar noises a few years ago--most, ironically happening just after T-belt
change. My own was accused as being a Diesel at idle when hot. My 200K '91
was dead quiet immediately after start-up and always at 1500 or higher rpm.
After playing with the belt tensioner and making certain I wasn't just
hearing belt-slap, I just figured it was probably the oil pump bearing...and
lived with it.
