I've used Seafoam on the big 2stroke outboard(burning it). Also for
those with carbon'd up 2strokes, Yamaha makes a product called
Ringfree that not only safely removed all the carbon on the pistons,
but a little in each tank keeps them shiny and it runs noticeably
smoother/more efficient. I've used Seafoam in the oil on every small
engine i've got(lawnmower/tiller etc). I've considered doing the
"suck it into the intake with a hose method" on the Audi to clean the
valves. However, many years ago I bought a "low mileage japenese
import motor" for my 77 Honda CVCC for $175. When I got the thing
home and took it out of the crate, they had left it full of really
dirty oil/then it sat in a container/warehouse for who knows how
long. When I drained it, it was kinda sludgy. I decided to do some
kind of flush(believe it was Marvel's), and all kinds of crud came
out. About a week later, the oil light came on on the highway,
turned out the oil screen had gotten completely plugged up with
crap. I'm just guessing there's a lot more things to plug up on
these motors and the stakes are much higher. I'd just put the cap
back on and don't look at it...;-) Tom
