I looked at a 1990 V8 that had been converted to a 5-speed manual.
The shifter felt crisp, almost notchy compared to my '91 20V. But
the thing that concerned me was the pedals. The clutch pedal was
about 2 inches (50 mm) off the floor. it is much lower than the
brake (which seems about 4 inches off the floor at rest). The
clutch seemed to work fine, but with only about an inch of play
before it is fully engaged, it had me worried. The seller said
the previous owner did the conversion, and used a Type 44 200
pedal box rather than a V8 pedal box.
The car was very tempting, but the clutch has me worried. My
family album is down, so I can't check if there are different
parts for the 200 and V8. I don't think the pedal should be so
low and have such short range of engagement.
