[V8] The neurosis spreads!

As much as I can't belive I'm saying this, I'd keep it. Believe me, the
reliability of the honda/toyota's will grow on you, but the car never will.
I'm with you, recently driving the Wife's Camry a bit. She bought it with
40K, now at 93K. Nothing's been done in that time but trans fluid changes
and oil changes. Oh, and I just flushed the brake fluid. All maintenance, no
problems with the car whatsoever. Then, I fire teh old 4000Q up and take it
to work. Beat as it is (this is my winter beater, I also have two nice ones)
it puts such a smile on my face I can't imagine getting back into that
Camry. Then, something acts up, and the Camry's there, relaible as ever.

I'd pull the gas tank (quite a project in itself) in bits and pieces, and
flush and seal it. then, put everything back together and take it for a
spin. I'll bet you can't even imagine selling it for $4K when you get it
back on the road. I wouldn't take three times what I paid for the beater,
which would be about three times what market value is. Can't describe it,
but there it is.

Oh, and those newer cars. Yea, they just don't have the same spark. There is
much less involvement, feel, and personality to them. They are great cars,
don't get me wrong. A new S4 is far superior to an old V8 in terms of power,
refinement, technology, and comfort. But, I'd still take the V8. A reliable
one (not mine), that is.

However, if you don't decide to start on it soon (like tomorow) keep it in
hibernation anyhow. Just don't let it sit too long. You might just forget
why you have it ;-) But, trust me, you will never find a replacement.

Tony
