[V8] The neurosis spreads!

I lucked out and have the best of 'all' worlds as I turn Audis thru my driveway quite regularly.? My v8 is a great DD, and thankfully, the PO did a total rebuild of all susp rubber and rack.? A 4.2 with the ABT chip is simply phenom torque to the chassis, and I'm just a fan of stock suspension with 255/40/17.? Too many midwest potholes to seriously consider anything else.

My trusty toyota trucks (4R turbo for 8 years, 94 LC for the last 5) have proven themselves to be flawless at the job of quattro res-q and trailer/engine/parts haulers.? The TRD supercharger addition to the Landcruiser put in on par with the v8 quite easily in terms of pleasure to drive.?? Me, even as a turbo guy will always say, torque rules the rolling planet.

2.5 Urq's, a 97FWD A6 wagon, and two CGT round out my driveway currently.? I must say, in lieu of the truck monster GVWR, the A6 with the motorcycle trailer can do just about all but tow dead audis.? I recently took it to Tulsa OK and hauled a motor back with it, and thought again about how convenient a trailer hitch would be on the v8....

What stands out with both trucks however, is Toyota's use of beefy 4 piston fixed calipers from the factory.? They both ate pads with aplomb, but both still on original rotors at 175k.? I enjoy all the machines in the driveway for different reasons, but for blasts around town and highway cruising, the v8 keys are always the first in my hand.

Cheers and my .02

I can relate. I have 5 V8's and dread the next thing that requires my
attention, but can't find anything that appeals to me as much at anywhere
near the price.

My Dad has converted the rest of my family to Toyota, he has two Priuses,
Mom and sister have Camrys.

When I visit I actually don't mind driving my Mom's Camry (a 2001). I'm
usually impressed with it being a 4 cylinder etc. But it always feels good
to get back home and into a V8.

I travelled recently and lucked out at Hertz and got a Camry SE. It was
definitely not my mother's Camry. It's like someone went and put damn
Bilstein HD's in it. I had to drive 100 or so miles each way on the
interstate and then around town for a week and it was way too "sporty" for
me. I used to think that would really be the hot ticket, the SE model, but
I much prefer my Mom's softer LE. The "sportiness" felt artificial and
overdone and out of character.

That's the same reason I pulled the H&R's from my 93 and will ditch the HD's
in my 91 5spd and Avant. The ride quality is way out of character.
