Roger,
I agree with Al. Had the same thing happen on an old Passat I had. Ended
up being a defective door switch on the front passenger side iirc.
Basically, carefully remove each switch (jiggle first in case of loose
contact) and ground out to test. I'll bet that's what your problem is.
They're the same switches they used in all the 5k/100/200 cars. BTW, If you
find they're all good with the rubber covers except one that has a torn
rubber boot, I'd suspect the one with the torn boot (moisture getting in and
corrosion prone).
