Will it go in reverse?  If so it is probably your forawrd clutch pack (Read TOAST), if it wont go in reverse then check the fluid level.  Either use a dipstick, or drain what is in it (measure it to see how much came out) then put back in 4 qts.  If that doesn't fix it then I would drop the x-member on the exhaust and the pan on the tranny.  Check the fluid color, cut the filter in half to check, and check the magnents - make the determination then.  You can probably get one cheap at a yard - mine has 190k on it and still going strong - but it has been well taken care of since 100k (syn fluid, filters every 30k or so).  Good luck - I looked at that car too - glad it went to home that isn't parting it.
