I just got home with my new V8 (Justin's old V8). It's silver and has been
taken care of much better than my pearl car was. It has a lot more miles
(~200k compared to ~124k), but overall it's in far better condition. It
sounds like it was garage-kept its entire life, so everything is clean and
intact (even the headliner!). The seats are actually in slightly better
condition than the ones in my pearl car, but I'm going to swap them anyway
so the silver car will have sport seats.
The main issues are the brakes and the throttle. The ride home was a bit
freaky due to a combination of brakes that don't work right (see below) and
the infamous sticky throttle issue. I made it home ok, but I don't want to
drive it much more until I get both of those things taken care of.
Speaking of which, the throttle issue is easy of course, but I'm wondering
if the trouble with the brakes is a weak bomb. He had just had it replaced
a couple years ago, but it seems like maybe it's leaked since then. If I
stab hard at the brakes, they'll engage for a second near the top of the
pedal, but then it immediately goes soft and doesn't engage again until it's
near the floor. If I press slowly on the pedal it behaves the same, except
for it doesn't have the initial grab at the top of the pedal. Does that
sound like the notorious failing bomb trouble?
Also, I can't find the recent brake bomb discussion in the archives. Can
someone point me in the right direction or remember what the discussion
subject was? ><
