The V8 is exactly the same as a 100/200 and very similar to the 5000's. The only difference between the 100/200/V8 and the 5000 is the door panel design and mounting. There are two different ways for replacing the window regulator on a Type 44 (V8/100/200/5000).

One is to remove the window regulator through the hole in the inner door shell.
This is not the easiest way, IMHO. However, it's a way to avoid realligning the inner door shell and window chanel after you are done.

The other is to remove the inner door shell (four bolts, two on the bottom with shims. Keep track of where they come from, mark them or such. Two one the top that are hidden by foam, unless it's fallen off over the years. This is the way I do it, it's less frusterating but more time consuming. Either way, it'll take at most four or so hours for a first timer.

BTW, it is held in by bolts. The newer VAG products have pretty much all swapped to rivets.

I vote do it yourself. Its easy, at least if its like a 200. I've done 2
